Tracking the status of libraries in Louisiana in the event of an emergency

Beauregard PL remains closed

9/3/20 Update:  Our main branch has power and is opening to the public starting today.  Other branches are still without power and remain closed.   Our ISP is back up; my usual means of contact are restored (echesnut@beau.org; 337-463-6217 x 11).

All branches of the Beauregard Parish Library are closed until power and reliable water can be restored to our sites. My staff have varying levels of home / property damage but all our people are safe.

Our ISP has also been down since last Thursday evening.  Until our ISP comes back up, we cannot receive email at any address ending in @beau.org.  If you need to reach me (Erin Chesnutt, Director), you can email me at my personal email account: enchesnutt@gmail.com or by call/text to my cell at 337-396-0806.

Several of our buildings had roof damage (not as severe as many others, though) and 3 of our buildings had some amount of water intrusion. A 4th location doesn’t seem to have had any water intrusion but is in a shared building and other areas did have water come in. In addition to dealing with that, we’re looking for ways to mitigate damage from prolonged humidity with limited access to electricity.

I hope all our colleagues in other systems and their families are faring well. We’ll get through this!
